Updates on the WPL Auction 2024 live: 165 players in all, including 61 international players, will be auctioned off at today’s second Women’s Premier League (WPL) in Mumbai. At the WPL 2023 auction, a maximum of 30 spots—nine of which are reserved for players from outside—will be offered. The Gujarat Giants strengthened their roster for the upcoming Women’s Premier League by paying INR 1 crore to acquire Phoebe Litchfield, an Australian who was the first player selected in the first round of the auction. The Australia star Annabel Sutherland was acquired by Delhi Capitals (DC) for INR 2 crore after a spectacular bid. There are 109 uncapped players and 56 capped players in the mini-auction.

During the WPL 2024 mini-auction, all-rounder Deandra Dottin of the West Indies, who had the highest reserve price of ₹50 lakh, was not sold. Ireland’s Kim Garth, who was ranked highest in the WPL auction in Mumbai, did not sell either. The uncapped stars who could find a new home at WPL are Vrinda Dinesh, Uma Chetry, Kashvee Gautam, Mannat Kashyap, and Gautami Naik, rising stars in India. There are just thirty spots available for the upcoming season, and a total of twenty-one Indian players will be eliminated.
Gujarat Giants, who finished last season with a wooden spoon, brought the largest purse to the WPL mini-auction. With INR 5.95 crores in their coffers, the Giants can upgrade their roster to 10 spots for the WPL in 2024. Mumbai Indians (MI), the reigning champions, can field up to five players in their squad with just INR 2.1 crores. With seven spots in the mini-auction, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have the second-highest purse (INR 3.35 crore). Which team is willing to spend the most money to become the WPL mini-auction’s most expensive signee?
