Goa Liberation Day 2023, Panaji: On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu welcomed the people of Goa and showered gratitude on the liberation fighters who orchestrated the momentous occasion in the state’s history.
Using her official name, President Murmu stated on social media platform X, “On Goa Liberation Day, the nation pays homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the liberation of Goa from colonial rule.” We pay tribute to the freedom fighters and our armed forces for their valor and sacrifice. On the microblogging platform, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant also commended the valor and sacrifice made by the state’s liberation fighters and the army.
“On this historic Goa Liberation Day, I honor the ultimate sacrifice made by our liberation fighters who valiantly fought to free Goa from oppressive colonial tyranny.” From his official X handle, Sawant said, “I applaud the Indian Armed Forces for their decisive action with Operation Vijay.”
Our hearts are filled with promise and hope as we work together to create a “Bhangrale Goem” for future generations thanks to the liberation movement, which is the result of perseverance. “My sincere felicitations to the Goan populace on this momentous Goa Liberation Day,” the Chief Minister wrote in his post.
Goa’s governor, PS Sreedharan Pillai, also paid tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives defending the state from colonial rule.
